Ejinya community in Ankpa Local Government of Kogi State has reiterated its call on the state government to come to the aid of the community in addressing the perennial problem of gully erosion that has destroyed many structures.
The community is worried that despite repeated calls on the government to do the needful in addressing the problem, indications are that it is not listening to the appeal.
The Chairman of Ejinya Community Development Association (ECDA), Mr. Augustine Oguche who spoke to our North Central Trust correspondent said that it was time government swung into action and save further buildings from being eroded.
Mr. Oguche pointed out that the better time was now that the rains have gone.
He acknowledged the fact that representatives from the local government in both the state House of Assembly and House of Representatives have visited and expressed their shock over the destruction caused by the erosion, adding that urgent action was needed now.
According to him, no fewer than 10 houses will be washed away in Ejinya Efofe by the time the next rains come if cogent actions were not taken before the advent of the next rains.
He said that the erosion has devastated the main road in recent years.
