The police in Lagos, on Wednesday, filed four-count criminal charges of alleged COVID-19 protocol violation against a Lagos club house owner,  Owede Bruno.

The accused person and others still at large, on the 9th of January, 2021 at Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, were alleged to have conspired to commit felony with harmful act and disobedience to lawful order and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Cardio Yetunde, a Superintendent of police at the Lagos State Police Command alleged that, “the accused person and others now at large, on the 9th of January, 2021 at about 01:30am at Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District disobeyed the lawful order of Lagos State Government concerning Covid-19 Protocols by organising a night club party.

The party had a large number of people who did not maintain social distancing nor wear face masks and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 123 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

It was also alleged that the accused person and others now at large, also “committed a harmful act which they knew or believed to likely spread the infection of COVID-19 pandemic and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 166(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Mr. Owede Bruno and others now at large, were further alleged to have conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by organising a night club, without safety masks and social distance and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168 of the criminal laws of Lagos State.

As at the time of filing in this report, the accused person was yet to be arraigned in Court.
