The Nigeria National Park Service (NNPS) has commenced the planting of economic trees in Kamuku National Park of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State to replace those felled by lumberjacks.

The Conservator General of NNPS, Ibrahim Musa Goni, said that was part of their afforestation activities and called on the communities in Birnin Gwari to reciprocate the gesture by preserving the national park.

He said the people must avoid hunting of wild animals, illegal felling of trees, as well as starting bush fires to protect the environment.
