N6.3b Maraban-Donga road flagged off

Work is set to commence on the Maraban-Baissa-Donga road in Taraba State, awarded by the Federal Government at the cost of N6.3 billion.

Speaking yesterday during the official flag-off of the road, the Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Haruna Manu, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for awarding the project, which he said was very vital to the economic development of the area and state as a whole.

Manu, who represented Governor Darius Ishaku, said the road, which links three local government areas of the state, would open up communities to enable the people, who are mainly farmers, move their produce to the market.

He also commended Senator Emmanuel Bwacha for initiating and lobbying the Federal Government to release funds to the contractor handling the project.

Speaking earlier, Senator Bwacha commended President Buhari for approving the award and release of funds for the project.

He said despite the fact that the area where the project was sited is a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the president still approved it because of his passion towards developing all parts of the country.

Bwacha urged the contractor to ensure delivery of quality work within the three-year completion period.
