The World Bank has given $20.4 million to Cross River State as one of the three states that scored the highest in the implementation of the States’ Fiscal Transparency Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) project.
The other two are Kwara and Sokoto States. SFTAS is a World Bank funded competitive programme of the federal government which rewards states for achieving indicators for improved fiscal transparency, accountability and sustainability.

The bank said the state scored almost 100 per cent for all fiscal, transparency and accountability indicators of the SFTAS audit in 2020.
According to a report released by the federal ministry of finance, budget and national planning which supervises the project, the state earned the score after a detailed annual performance assessment of all 36 Nigerian states under SFTAS programme.
According to the report, Kwara achieved a grant prize of $16.9m while Sokoto received a $22m grant for the SFTAS programme.
