A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Yunusa Mohammed Ombuguanga, has opened up on his itinerary in six different political parties as a politician.

Alhaji Ombuguanga, in an interview with Daily Trust, said he recently rejoined APC because of its spread and vision to move the country to greater heights.

He said: “I started my political career when I joined the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 1992 and contested as a chairmanship aspirant of Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area (LGA) in 1993 during the failed attempt of General Sani Abacha to turn the polity from military to democratic rule. I later joined the defunct Grassroot Democratic Movement (GDM) in 1996.”

According to him, he lost the primary election for Nasarawa State House of Assembly under the PDP in 2007.

Alhaji Ombuguanga said he was a national delegate that led to the emergence of late Umaru Musa Yar’adua as the presidential flag bearer of PDP before the end of the tenure of President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2011.

He said he later joined the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) from 2011 to 2013.

In 2014, Alhaji Ombuguanga said he defected to Accord Party to contest the Nasarawa North Senatorial District seat in the 2015 general elections.

He added that he joined APC in 2018 and indicated interest to become Governor of Nasarawa State but later left for SDP the same year to run for Senate in the 2019 general elections.

He, however, dumped SDP to register with APC on July 25, 2020.
