Bayero University Kano Millennium graduates from the old Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies (FAIS) held its 20th anniversary and 5th Annual General Meeting (AGM) amidst pomp and pageantry at the weekend.
Kano/Jigawa Chronicle reports that the graduates are drawn from the then old FAIS, which comprises the departments of Mass Communication, Hausa, History, English and European Languages, Arabic and Islamic Studies.
Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, enjoined members to sustain linkages among themselves for better relationships as well as to support their alma mater to continue to evolve tremendously.
In his remarks, the Pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Communication and newly elected Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Kashere, Professor Umaru Pate, said it was pleasing to see how products of the departments were excelling in their various endeavours and was a source of pride to the lecturers who moulded them during their stay at the university.
In their separate remarks, the Chairman of the association, Muhammad Abdul; the Chairman of the steering committee, Ali Tanko Yakasai, and that of the organising committee, Mustapha Muhammad, enjoined the over 350 members to continue to be committed to the ideals and norms of the association meant to foster unity and brotherhood among members and their alma mater.
