A 59-year old man, Mr. Demian Oyendikwe, who lost N38 million worth of good to #EndSARS protest has demanded for compensation.
Oyendikwe made the demand on Tuesday when he appeared before the Edo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry for victims of SARS and related abuses.
He said his ware house located at Eribo Estate, Textile Mill road Benin was completely looted by the hoodlums during the #EndSARS protest.
“My creditors have been on my neck, asking for their money and I have no means of paying back because my goods were looted,”
“So, I decided to approach the panel for financial assistance,”.
“Government should kindly assist me at this moment because the losses are enormous,”
He said the institutions that gave him the money are on his neck, adding that he is at the panel for assistance to be able to liquidate the debts.”
Similarly, an Inspector of Police, Mrs. Afekhai Christiana, whose car was vandalized during the #EndSARS protest has demanded for a new one.
The police officer had told the panel that the hoodlums who hijacked the #EndSARS protest, punctured the four tyres of her vehicle, broke the windscreen and made away with the battery where she parked her vehicle at the Ugbekun police station.
The panel however told her that it will be out of place to ask the state government to buy her a new car in place of vandalized car worth N800,000 when it could be fixed.
The panel further agreed to visit the mechanical workshop where the vehicle is undergoing some repairs.
