Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has presented a first class staff of office to the new monarch of Bachama kingdom.
Hama Bachama, Dr. Daniel Shaga Samaila was selected as the 29th ruler in July to succeed his predecessor, retired colonel Honest Irmiya Stephen, who died after a brief illness.
Speaking at the occasion held in Numan , the governor commended the king makers for conducting a peaceful selection process, while extolling the courage of the four other contestants for their continued support for the kingdom.
Fintiri reiterated the resolve of his administration to ensure peace and peaceful coexistence among different ethnic groups living in the state.
In his remark, the new Hama Bachama pledged to promote understanding among various ethnic and religious groups living in the chiefdom, dispelling rumours about plans to flush out non indigenes from the kingdom.
“It is important that I clarify some misconceptions and outright lies if only to disabuse the minds of everyone who lives in our kingdom but who is not of the kingdom”.
“I have heard the lies and mischief being spread around that the Bachama kingdom plans to flush out all herdsmen and non-indegenous persons from the Kingdom”.
“This failed effort at blackmailing the kingdom is, to say the least, malicious, self-serving and pedestrian. And like other lies before it, this one too shall fail.
“Frequent and regular dialogue between farmers and herders and between the leadership of farmers and herders and committed involvement of government and the security and peace reconciliation committee is paying off. Our kingdom will therefore continue to support every peace initiative to implement solutions and strategies agreed upon until we are able to stabilize and to enjoy sustainable peace,” he said.
