Gezawa Exchange, SON to partner on export

The Gezawa Commodity Market and Exchange, a new platform in Kano has called for a partnership with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) to meet global standardisation of commodities for exportation.

The project consultant of the market, Mr. Binchang Binfa, disclosed this when he received a delegation from SON on an inspection visit to the multi-billion naira agro-exchange market.

“We look forward to a strong partnership with SON whereby when our export terminal becomes operational, SON will play a key role in terms of issuance of certificates for importers and exporters within the terminal.

Mr Binfa said the market, which is going to be commissioned in early 2021 is aimed at providing businesses and job opportunities especially in the area of agriculture adding that the market would also assist in eradicating the menace of middlemen in agricultural businesses.

The SON’s State Coordinator, Malam Yunusa B. Muhammad commended the project and reaffirmed the organisation’s full support to the project in order to achieve the desired goals.

“We are optimistic about what we have seen in the market; especially in terms of storage facilities and the processing machine.

“As a government agency, we are not only in ensuring the required standard of products but also to assist in ensuring businesses to be able to scale operations,” he said.
