Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed Saturday emerged the substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Dutse, (FUD).
He will succeed Prof. Fatima Batul Mukhtar, whose five-year tenure ends in February, 2021.
Presenting his letter of appointment at the University’s Senate Chambers, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Alhaji Ahmed Alti said Mohammed was selected out of the three top candidates among the 35 candidates who jostled for the job.
“The Selection Committee worked for one, to interview and screen about 35 applicants. After the Board had done their work, they finally came up with the highest scorer of the selection and the interview, which three of them emerged.
“Then, the whole Governing Council was invited to come and receive the report of selection board, where the three candidates, according to the law were presented to the Governing Council.
“The Council deliberated and decided that they will select one by voting, among the three top scorers.
“Finally the Council decided after the election to appoint Professor Abdulkarin Sabo Mohammed as the new Vice-Chancellor of FUD,” he said.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after his appointment, the VC-Designate promised to carry everybody along in the scheme of things when he assumes duty in February, 2021.
“This is the beginning of the new beginning and I pledge to ensure that everybody is carried along under my leadership,” he said.
