The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command has arrested a fake army major.
The suspect, Amos John Ewuga, was arrested over alleged impersonation as army Major, fraud and job racketeering.
Spokesperson of the Corps, Sirajo Idris said, ” The 46 years old suspect was arrested after a tipoff from members of the public who lodged complaints with the Command.
“Following series of complaints, the Corps mounted surveillance and arrested him along Akwanga-Keffi-Abuja road in a tinted Army colour Toyota Highlander Jeep with registration number RBC 398 JM.
“Ewuga, who hailed from Nasarawa Eggon Local Government of Nasarawa State has been impersonating as a Major of the Nigerian Army.
” The suspect extorted money running into millions of naira from innocent job seekers with the promise to provide jobs opportunities for them in the Nigerian Army, Air Force, Navy and other paramilitary agencies,” Sirajo said.
Ewuga confessed that he defrauded hundreds of people within and outside Nasarawa State of their cash and other belongings in the pretext of being a Nigerian Army personnel.
The NSCDC said Ewuga will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
