The Kano/Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has generated N21.01 billion this year 2020 despite the COVID-19 challenges, the Comptroller, Suleiman Umar said.
Umar said the N20bn target for the year was surpassed noting that “this is also 8.4 per cent higher than that of the 2019 figure.
“In 2019 we generated N13bn as against the N21bn of this year. This is commendable despite the COVID-19 challenges,” he said.
He said 353 seizures with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N925 million were made while 15 suspected smugglers were apprehended and on administrative bail.
“In the last two weeks, we recovered seized items with a duty paid value of N24m.
“This shows you how committed and resilient our men are,” he said.
