A 52-year-old man, Wasiu Ologunju, has been arraigned by the police in Ondo State for allegedly faking his son’s kidnap.
Wasiu, a father of three, was said to have deceived the police that his son, Rilwan, had been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in order to prevent him from being arrested for prosecution over stealing.

His son, Rilwan Olagunju, was also arraigned for stealing the sum of N538,133.00 from his boss.
According to the prosecution, the accused persons committed the offences on October 3rd ,2020 around 8:00am at Shakina Venture, Oke Aro, Akure in Akure magisterial district.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Augustine Omhenimhen, told the court that the first accused person, Wasiu, wrongfully informed the Police that his son had been kidnapped in order to prevent him from arrest by the police.
Omhenimhen further said that Rilwan was earlier arrested by one Aremu Musa Adebiyi for stealing his money, being proceed of Shakina Venture after which the boy went into hiding.
The prosecutor also stated that Wasiu deceived the police that his son, Rilwan, had been kidnapped by by unknown gunmen in other to prevent him from being arrested.
He said the offence contravened section 125A, 390(6), 516(B) and 519 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Vol 1 laws of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge of conspiracy.
Defence counsel, Mr Femi Akintoye, applied for the bail of the accused persons in most liberal terms.
Magistrate O. R Yakubu granted bail to the accused persons in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.
