The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje has approved the closure of the Bayero University and other tertiary institutions in the state with immediate effect.
The announcement came barely 24-hours after the state government ordered the closure of all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner, Ministry for Higher Education, Dr. Mariya Bunkure, “all students are advised to vacate the Campuses from ‘Tuesday’, 16/12/2020.

The state government also urged the students to “continue revising their lessons while at home.”
The Commissioner was however silent on the reason for the closure but it was gathered that this may not be unconnected to the resurgence of COVID-19 in the country.
