The Atyap Chiefdom’s Peace and Security Partnership Committee in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State will engage youths and women in a centralised skills acquisition training and sporting activities.
The chairman of the Committee, John Bala Gora, who stated this while presenting a monthly progress report to the Agwatyap in his palace, said the committee was making necessary preparations and consultations with relevant individuals and organisations.
He said details of the plans would be unveiled in the committee’s next report, adding that the acts of senseless reprisals and roadblocks following attacks have been brought under control as noticed after the killing of the District Head of Gidan Zaki and his son and the murder of Dachonon Gyang in Gora district of the chiefdom.
The Agwatyap, Dominic Gambo Yahaya, thanked the committee for their work but observed that amidst efforts to restore peace, there were pockets of killings across the chiefdom.
While noting that the journey to peace may take time to materialise, the traditional ruler assured that it would certainly be achieved.
He said the traditional institutions would continue to pursue peace by forging ahead with all measures put in place through adequate support to the peace committee.
