The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has decried what it called the “unfair stigmatisation” of the Fulani tribe amid the rising insecurity in the country.
The National President of MACBAN, an umbrella body of the Fulani socio-cultural group, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Kayo, spoke at a media parley after the inauguration of the newly-elected executives of the association from the North-West Zone in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.

He also blamed the media for “misrepresenting the Fulani character”.
He noted that it would be unfair to blame all cases of insecurity on Fulani without proper investigation.
Kayo, however, admitted that there may be bad elements among the Fulani, just like other ethnic groups in the country.
He said the Fulani were also victims of kidnapping and cattle rustling, and suffered heavy losses as a result of bandits’ activities and cattle rustlers.
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to Jigawa State Governor on community inclusion, Alhaji Hamza Muhammad, tasked the leadership of the association to prevail on its members to ensure that their children acquire both Islamic and western education to make them relevant to themselves and the society.
