The Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Zulum, yesterday, presented a budget of N208.7 billion for 2021 fiscal year to the state’s House of Assembly for approval.
Zulum, while speaking during the presentation in Maiduguri, said the budget was about 15.2 percent (N62.04 billion) higher than the 2020 figure.
He explained that the Ministry of Reconstruction Rehabilitation and Resettlement has the highest allocation with N15.84billion, while the Ministry of health has the second-highest allocation of N10 billion. Zulum said capital expenditure got a higher allocation of N135 billion while recurrent expenditure stands at N72 billion.
The governor also announced plans to support 100, 000 farmers on irrigation farming and expand outreach to all local governments.
He added that the proposed 2021 fiscal bill will be funded by federation allocation, development partners, donor agencies and internally-generated revenue.
