Unidentified gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a member of Taraba State House of Assembly, Barrister Bashir Muhammed.
Barrister Muhammed, member representing Nguroje constituency in Sardauna Local Government Area, was abducted in his residence located at Yama-sala area in Jalingo metropolis at about 1 am on Wednesday.

Daily Trust gathered that the gunmen, numbering up to 20, stormed the area where the residence of the member is located and started shooting sporadically.
It was gathered that the gunmen forced their way into Muhammed’s house and took him away at gun point.
Residents told our reporter that the gunmen condoned the area during their operation that lasted more than 30 minutes without intervention from any security agent in the town.
Barrister Bashir, who is the minority leader of the house and also chairman of the information committee of the House, was the second serving member of Taraba State House of Assembly to be abducted.
The first member abducted by kidnappers was late Hosea lbi, who was abducted in his residence in Takum in December 2017 and died in the hands of his abductors.
However, a source close to the victim, who would not like his name mentioned, said the kidnappers have not contacted the family of Muhammed yet.
Spokesperson of Taraba State Police Command, DSP David Misal, confirmed the incident and said that the police were making efforts to rescue the abducted lawmaker.
