Two die, five injured in Ogun road crash

Two persons Tuesday died while five others sustained various degrees of injuries in a road crash along Sagamu-Abeokuta expressway in Ogun State.

The accident, which occurred at 1:14 pm, involved a truck, Mazda commercial bus marked LND 539 XV and a Lexus GS350 with plate number AAA298GK.

The spokesperson for the state’s Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, told newsmen in Abeokuta on Tuesday that 19 people were involved in the accident.

According to him, the accident occurred around Foursquare Camp axis of the Abeokuta-Kobaoe-Siun-Sagamu Expressway when the driver of the Lexus car overtook the commercial bus at the diversion stretch.

He said the driver, upon noticing an incoming vehicle, swerved into the bush to avoid a head-on collision.

He, however, said the front side of the bus collided with the truck.

The bus driver and one passenger died on the spot.

Akinbiyi said both the dead and injured victims were taken to the State Hospital Ijaiye, Abeokuta.
