Borno farmers urged to form cooperatives

The Member representing Marte/Monguno/Nganzai Federal Constituency of Borno State, Mohammed Tahir Monguno, has urged farmers to establish viable cooperatives to boost agro-commodity trading operations to improve their livelihoods.

Hon. Monguno, said this as the guest of honour at a capacity building workshop organised by the Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCX) on ‘Agro-Commodity Trading and Warehouse Management for Farmers, Agro-Processors’ and other market actors in Nganzai and its environs.

A statement by the NCX spokesman, Chris Echikwu, said the farmers were enjoined to organise themselves into viable groups in order to secure direct access to major food processors and exporters through NCX trading platforms, among the many benefits of commodity exchange operations.
