Wali’s PDP group launches appeal fund for Kano LG polls

Members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State led by former Minister of Foreign Affairs,  Aminu Wali, has launched an appeal fund to sponsor the upcoming Local Government election in the state.

Recall that the Caretaker Committee of the party in the state led by Danladi Abdulhameed had announced the withdrawal of the party from the election. However, the Wali group has insisted they will be participating.

In their preparation for the election, the Wali’s group yesterday launched the appeal fund at his (Wali) residence in Kano in order to sponsor the candidates for chairmanship and councillorship positions to buy nomination forms and fund their campaigns.

Speaking at the occasion, Muhammaina Bako Lamido, who addressed journalists as the interim chairman of the party in Kano, said the PDP in the state was considered to be inactive by the national body.

“I therefore call on all interim chairmen across the 44 Local Governments to start preparation in top gear. We want the national body of PDP and even our opposition to feel our presence in Kano state.

“We are optimistic that we will win the election. Unlike the other faction, we have confidence in KANSIEC and believe our strength is enough to foil any attempt to rig the election,” Lamido said.

The party’s leader in the state,  Ambassador Aminu Wali, thanked the the organisers of the appeal fund, which according to him, would be closed on 10th January, six days to the election.
