Student union donates 3 blocks of VIP latrines to school

In commemoration of the World Toilet Day, the National Union of Yobe State Students (NUYOSS) has handed over three blocks of VIP latrines it reconstructed to College of Agriculture Gujba.

The president of the Union Muhammed Tijjani Ali said lack of adequate toilet facilities would create room for communicable diseases in a community.

He maintained that good toilet facilities promote environmental hygiene and good health among people.

“We deemed it important to not just celebrate the day but do the little we could to create environmental solution as part of our effort to call against open defecation”

He said the project fall within series of activities conducted by the union in celebration of the 28 years its existence.

“We have conducted climate action campaign, medical advocacy on pre-marital test and offered some free test of hepatitis, HIV and genotype to some students and made some donations to orphanages.

Speaking  while commissioning the project, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni represented by Special Adviser, Political Matters, Aji Yerima Bularafa charged the benefitting institution to ensure good maintenance of the facilities.

He commended the students’ leadership for taking the step despite their tight financial strength.

The Provost of the College, Malam Alkali Usman thanked the union for supporting their contemporaries adding that the facility would no doubt enhance hygiene within the school premises.
