The Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace on Monday said the present security architecture could not solve rising cases of kidnapping, banditry, insurgency and other crimes.
Its co-chairmen, Alhaji Kunle Sanni and Bishop Sunday Onuoha, said this at a press briefing in Abuja.
- 2 travellers, 2 bandits killed as security rescues 39 victims in Kaduna
- Slaughtered Borno farmers did not get clearance to farm — Garba Shehu
Sanni said: “Our security architecture, presently, unless we’re playing the ostrich, cannot in any way solve our problem.
“There’s even the conspiracy theory that those paid to protect us are being paid to look the other way while people are being kidnapped and women are being raped and ritualists are slicing us in pieces.”
Onuoha urged politicians and high-level stakeholders in government to come together at a bi-partisan round table regardless of religious leanings “to frankly discuss how to get the country out of these doldrums that have become our bane”.
