2 remanded over kidnapping in Ekiti

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court has remanded two men, Muhammed Bello (35) and Abubakar Suleiman alias Yellow (34) at a correctional centre over alleged kidnapping of a lady.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Sgt. Caleb Leranmo, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on April 26, 2020 at Isan-Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Leranmo alleged that the defendants unlawfully kidnapped one Taiwo Victoria at her home town and that the offence contravened Section 3 (a) of the Kidnap and Terrorism (Prohibition) Law of Ekiti State 2015.

The plea of the defendants was not taken as their counsel, Mr. Ola Abiola, sought an adjournment pending legal advice from the DPP.

Chief Magistrate Abdulhamid Lawal thereafter remanded the defendants in a correctional centre and adjourned the case to December 7, 2020.
