End killings, Lawan, Gbajabiamila tell security agencies

Senate President Ahmad Lawan on Sunday urged the security agencies to redouble their efforts and end mindless violent crimes in the country.

Lawan, in a statement by his spokesman, Ola Aowinyi, condemned the killing of rice farmers by terrorists in Borno State.

He described the incident as another act of barbarism against innocent Nigerians minding their own business.

He condoled with the families of the victims, government and people of Borno State.

Similarly, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, said the killings of the farmers had once again brought to the fore the need for more military action against the terrorists.

Gbajabiamila, in a statement by his spokesman, Lanre Lasisi, said: “Their lives should not go in vain. This should call for more action from our military. As a house, we’re ever ready to give them all the necessary support, especially through budgetary allocation, to deal decisively with the insurgents,” he said.
