The Accident Investigation Bureau Nigeria (AIB-N) has released three aircraft accident reports just as it warns against the non-implementation of air accident safety recommendations.
AIB has released 59 final reports since it began operation in 2007. The Commissioner/CEO AIB-N, Mr. Akin Olateru, also released 16 Safety Recommendations bringing it to 211 of such so far.
AIB also released two Safety Bulletins adding to one released earlier by Olateru.
He advised relevant stakeholders which include FAAN, NCAA, the airlines and others to “ensure that they avail themselves of the AIB-N reports, draw useful lessons from them and implement the safety recommendations where applicable.
“If they fail to do these, all the time and resources invested into the investigation of serious incidents and accidents by AIB-N would have been wasted.”
Olateru reiterated that “safety recommendations are critical to the Bureau’s basic role of accident prevention since it is the lever used to bring about safety changes to, and improvements in the nations aviation system.”
