One killed in early morning fire in Kano

One persons was said to have died in an early morning fire incident at Halima House along Zaria road, in Tarauni local government area of Kano metropolis, the State Fire Service has confirmed.

The fire, according to a statement issued on Thursday by the spokesman of the service, Sa’idu Mohammed razed three shops and toilets before the fire brigade from the command contained the situation.

He said the deceased, Ajibade Kayode and Thank-God Hosia were trapped in the building while the fire was razing.

He said one Ahmed Danlami  reported the incident at 01:32 am hours.

He said the officers arrived the scene of the incident around 01:36 am and discovered that it was a three- storey building on fire.

Two persons were trapped but were eventually rescued and taken to the Murtala Muhammed Hospital, where one was confirmed dead.

According to Mohammed, “We received a distress called from Zaria road by Halima House Tarauni local government at 01:32 am hours, Through Malam Ahmad Danlami.

“Response to the called we turned out our officers with appliances to the scene of incident arrived at 01:36 am hours and discovered that it was a three stories buildings used as a plaza, was caught fire.

“Three business shops and three toilets from the floors were in blazed. Inferno was control and quenched by our officers. While two persons reported trapped victims were rescued. By names Thank God Hosia of about 24 years old was rescued alive and Ajibade Kayode of about 40 years old was rescued unconscious.

“Victims were taken to Murtala Muhammad Hospital and confirmed that Ajibade was dead And Thank God will continue receive medical assistance.

He said the caused of the inferno is under investigation.

In a similar development, Mohammed also confirmed the rescue of a 28-year-old man, Ibrahim Ahmed from a well at Gaya town.
