37 cattle killed in Osun train accident

At least 37 cows worth N10 million were killed on Wednesday in a train accident at Power Line area in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Daily Trust gathered that the last two coaches of the Kwara bound train suddenly detached on the motion and rolled back.

Eyewitnesses said the detached coaches derailed from the rail track and rammed into the bush, thereby hitting the cows grazing.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.

According to her, 41 cows were involved in the accident and 37 died while four sustained injuries.

One of the owners of the cows, Mr Ismail Rabiu, who put the loss at N10 million described the incident as “very unfortunate”.
