The organised labour on Monday said it would not declare a strike and street protests over the recent fuel price hike because it is not a “one-man show”.

The labour emphasized that “strike is the last option”.

Leaders of the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, at a joint press briefing at Labour House in Abuja, said they would exhaust all available options to ensure ongoing issues were resolved before the option of strike was considered.

NLC Deputy President, Joe Ajaero, said labour could not on its own declare a strike without engaging all its members and following due process.

He said contrary to speculations, the labour leadership never betrayed the masses, explaining that the proposed September 28 nationwide strike was suspended following certain agreements reached with the government.

He said the labour would work towards regaining citizen’s confidence in its leadership.
