Customs seizes goods worth N139.7m

The Nigeria Customs Service, Kaduna Zone B Command, says it has seized goods worth N139.7 million in states under the zone.

The Deputy Comptroller and Coordinator, Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Strike Force, Aliyu Olorukoba, disclosed this at a news briefing in Kaduna.

He listed the items seized to include 745 bags of foreign rice, 16 vehicles, 622 bales and three sacks of second-hand clothing, 564 kegs of 25 litres of vegetable oil, 258 cartons of tomato paste, and 208 parcels of Indian hemp.

The rest are foreign spaghetti noodles, 35 cartons of mosquito coil, 370 kegs of 25 litres of petrol, and 121 cartons of other items.

“The total Duty Paid Value (DPV) for the seizure is N139,715,063. These seizures were done across the states under this zone,” he said.

He warned smugglers to desist by embracing illegitimate business, saying the command will not relent in its effort towards securing the country’s border.
