The wives of the policemen abducted by bandits between Katsina and Zamfara states have urged government to rescue their husbands and reunite them with their families.
A security source told BBC Hausa service that 12 policemen, with rank of ASPs, were abducted by bandits 10 days ago, on their way to Zamfara state for a special assignment.

In an interview with the BBC Hausa, one of the abducted policemen’s wives said they are leaving in fear and cannot sleep since the incident happened.
“Three days after they’ve gone I didn’t hear from my husband. When I go to the barracks they told me that he and his colleagues were abducted by bandits.
“Two of them escaped from the bandits and that’s how we come to know they were taken by some people,” she said.
She added that her husband called once and from that moment she did not hear from him again.
“He called me once on Wednesday and told me that they are in trouble and that we should sell his house and send even 1 million to him.
“He said if we didn’t send the money on time there will be problem and we may not hear from him again and from that time we didn’t hear from him.
“We are now gathering the money among ourselves. One of his colleagues called again and said we should generate 800 thousand each and some have even brought their own,” she added.
The wife called on government to help them as they do not have the money to rescue their husbands, adding they are left with children who are young and cannot even feed themselves.
“Please and pleases we need help, we don’t have anything to rescue our husbands and some of us are left with children and to feed them is also another issue, We are in trouble,” she cried out.
When BBC Hausa contacted the Borno state police command about the matter they said the incident did not occur in their state.
Also when contacted, Katsina state police said they didn’t know about the abduction of the policemen.
