The World Bank Multi Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP), Yobe State Project Coordination Unit in collaboration with the state government and Levant Construction Ltd have signed over N6bn contract for the reconstruction of 40 km Gujba-Ngalda road.

The project is part of MCRP recovery interventions in rebuilding areas affected by the insurgency.

Speaking yesterday shortly before signing the contract, the MCRP State Project Coordinator, Musa Idi Jidawa noted that the activities of the insurgents around communities within the road corridor have forced many people to flee the area, giving room for further destruction of infrastructure.

Jidawa explained that the insurgency problem coupled with lack of maintenance of the road for over ten years, have underscored the need for complete reconstruction and rehabilitation for easy movements people and farm produce.

The Levant Construction Project engineer, Engr Adeyinka Adeoti assured that the work will be done according engineering standards within specification and budget.
