Nigerians in Ghana, under the auspices of Nigerian Union of Traders Association in Ghana have appealed to the Federal Government to evacuate them from that country.
They made the appeal in a save-our-soul letter delivered to Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa in Abuja on Wednesday.
The delegation was led by President, National Association of Nigerian Traders, Dr Ken Ukoaha alongside the President of Nigerian Union of Traders Association in Ghana and other members of the Association.
They said the evacuation had become necessary because of constant harassment, intimidation, torture and threat to life and a total lockdown of their businesses by Ghanaian authorities.
They said this was even more so since all diplomatic niceties at the highest level between Nigeria and Ghana had not yielded positive results. They said their shops had been locked for almost one year by the Ghanaian authorities.
“Now, landlords are coming to ask us for rent. How do we pay with our shops locked up for so long? We are dying here”, they lamented.
However, Dabiri-Erewa sued for peace, stressing that all relevant stakeholders would be engaged.
She assured that their message would be delivered to the appropriate authorities.
