Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Senator James Akpan Udoedehe, has denied reports that he will pick the governorship ticket of the party for Akwa Ibom state ahead of the 2023 general elections.
There are media reports that Udoedehe, at a press conference recently, said he was eyeing the governorship ticket of the party for the 2023 contest.

But reacting in a statement on Wednesday, the former lawmaker said he was quoted out of context, and urged APC stakeholders in the state to rally together to build the party rather than divide it with 2023 ambition.
“What we are asking from all APC stakeholders in Akwa Ibom State is that we all need to come together to build APC in our state and in the entire South-south geopolitical zone.
“It is only when we are firmly rooted on the ground that the platform becomes viable for individual aspirations. Let’s build the party before we talk of 2023,” he said.
Similarly, the APC in a statement by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, on Wednesday, said the reports were misleading and urged the public to disregard the “fake report” in its entirety.
