Nasarawa State government has provided nutritional foods and supplements to 1000 malnourished children in the state to improve their health.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Halima Jabiru, said during the 2020 budget assessment at Nasarawa State House of Assembly that the ministry has taken steps to train women on producing locally made nutritional foods and called on the House Committee on Women Affairs to support the ministry.
She revealed that a total of 150 women have been trained on women empowerment and that the ministry needed more funds to empower them with capital and other support.
The commissioner also called for the assembly’s support to revamp the ministry’s erstwhile Women Multipurpose Centre, on which the governor has approved a site for the programme.
The House Committee on Women Affairs chairman, Samuel Tsebe, said apart from the ministries of education and health, the Ministry for Women Affairs is the next ministry that affects the people directly.
