Nigerian clubs for next year’s continental competitions have been handed formidable opponents by the Confederation of African Football, CAF.
The draw of the preliminary rounds of Interclub competitions season 2020/21 was held yesterday during the online meeting of CAF Organizing Committee for Interclub Competitions and Club Licensing Systems.

The draws for the preliminary round in the CAF Champions League saw reigning Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Plateau United pitched against Tanzanian giants Simba Sports Club while former African champions, Enyimba got Rahimo FC of Burkina Faso.
In the Confederation Cup draw, Rivers United were handed Futuro Kings of Equatorial Guinea and Aiteo Cup holders, Kano Pillars got ASC Jaraaf FC of Senegal.
The preliminary matches of both elite competitions are billed for last weekend of November.
This means the four Nigeria clubs would go into the continental competitions before the commencement of the domestic league.
The League Management Company yesterday released Week 1 & 2 fixtures with indication that the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League would kick-off on December 6.
This would be a week after both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup have started.
