Few days after the Secretary to the Niger state government, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Matane denied the story on three commissioners testing positive for Coronavirus, the state governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has announced that he tested positive to the virus.
Bello who is the Chairman of the North Central forum confirmed this on his Twitter handle on Monday.

In the tweet, he said ” I have tested positive to Covid-19. However, I am asymptomatic and I have gone into isolation.”
The governor tested positive few days after the SSG had tag journalists in the state as liars for reporting that three commissioners tested positive for the virus.
Matane said the story of the commissioners testing positive was mere rumor and that the public should disregard it.
The Governor’s confirmation shows that more people in his cabinet may also have contracted the disease.
The Chief Press Secretary Mary Noel-Berje, quoted the Governor as saying “his sample was taken for test, and unfortunately returned positive.
The Governor said he has immediately gone into self isolation and has commenced treatment.
“We however solicit prayers from all and sundry for his quick recovery even as he is asymptomatic to the virus and advised the people to always observe all the COVID-19 protocols in their dealings,” she said.
