Commission of inquiry: Youth council rejects representative’s appointment

The Gombe State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has rejected the nomination of Comrade Al’amin Ibrahim Mohammed as its representative in a commission of inquiry on police brutality constituted by Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya.

In an letter addressed to the governor through their counsel, Barrister Benjamin Sati, the NYCN rejected Mohammed’s appointment as their representative because he is not the constitutionally recognized chairman of the council.

According to the letter, the said Comrade Mohammed was defeated by Comrade Abdullahi Bello Yero in a keenly contested election held on April 6, 2018, adding he won the election alongside 18 others as duly elected executives of the council.

Barrister Sati appealed to Governor Yahaya to replace Ibrahim Mohammed with the council chairman, Abdullahi Yero, or any other member of the executive committee who were validly elected.
