The Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission says it needs N2bn to partition and furnish its headquarters in Abuja.
NERC Chairman James Momoh said this in Abuja on Wednesday when he appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on Power to defend the commission’s 2021 budget.

He said the partitioning and furnishing was necessary to make the building more befitting after it was acquired by the commission.
Momoh said work on the building had been ongoing and funds for the project were proposed in the 2020 and 2021 budgets.
He said the commission was unable to spend all the money released to it for the project in the 2020 budget because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The chairman of the committee, Magaji Da’u Aliyu, said the committee would delete the request from the 2021 budget proposal if NERC did not provide the contract sum and other details.
