The Agro Processing Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Support (APPEALS) project has pleaded with the Kano State government to redeem its counterpart fund to the project.
The National Coordinator of the project, Dr Sani Jobdi, said the release of such fund would further cement the achievement so far recorded in the project.
According to him, a lot has been achieved since the commencement of the project in Kano, adding that the fund is expected to enhance modern farming activities and boost an overall agricultural production in the state.
Responding, Deputy Governor and the Commissioner of Agriculture, Dr Nasiru Gawuna, described the project as a successful venture that the state was proud of and would continue to support towards its excellent performances.
He stressed the need for collaboration among participating states, adding that performing states should collaborate rather than being competitors in the scheme.
He assured of government’s resolve to continue to support the project because of its importance in giving farmers avenue to prosper as well as improving their livelihood.
Earlier, the state Coordinating Officer of the project, Hassan Ibrahim, said the project had assisted benefiting farmers to become millionaires having evidently showcased some of their achievements recorded with improved bumper harvest.
