Political party for the youth not the solution

The #EndSARS protests by Nigerian youths led to an  assumption that they could find a solution to bad governance, through the formation of a political party for the youth.

Firstly, I must state categorically that Nigeria goes beyond what many youths see today. Nigerian youths lack basic leadership experience to move the nation forward. Today we have many youth organisations in the country, yet they are not united.

Nigerian youths are too poor to run for political offices due to the cost of electioneering and a few of those who may be financially capable lack experience and patriotism, which are the main requirements for a successful leadership.

Many Nigerian youths are only used as thugs to cause violence and rig elections.

Therefore, hoping for the formation of a political party for the youth to solve Nigeria’s problems simply means waiting for a solution that may  take longer than expected or that which may never come.

For me, the solution is the involvement of capable youths, who have shown excellence in knowledge, experience, morals and patriotism, into governance.

Nigerian youths should also call for a reduction in the age requirement for contesting for political offices.

They must also pick up responsibilities that will make them become good leaders.
