The Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Power, Magaji Da’u Aliyu, has alleged that the EndSARS protest was aimed at destabilising the northern part of the country.
This is even as he said the time was ripe for each component of the country to find its way.
Speaking on radio programme monitored in Dutse, Aliyu, who represents Birnin Kudu/Buji Federal Constituency of Jigawa State, said he was confident that the north could stand on its own in the event of such a split because the region is blessed with a lot of resources.
He argued that many countries that split had successfully piloted their countries, without many problems.
On the EndSARS protest, he said, “I don’t believe the thing was planned in one day. Look at the T-shirts the #ENDSARS protesters were putting on. They were not made in the country; they were brought in from other countries. Look at the food they were eating. It shows you that they wanted to scatter the north, but this time around, we wised up and refused to burn our barns.”
