Traders warned against buying, selling looted items

The National Association of Nigerian Traders yesterday in Abuja warned all its members nationwide against buying or selling items that might have been stolen, looted or unlawfully carted away by hoodlums.

Its president, Ken Ukaoha, asked members to report any suspected seller or buyer of such items to the market leadership or the nearest security agencies.

His warning was amidst the reported looting of COVID-19 palliatives as well as other private and public property across the country.

“Government should as well restore sanity and institute organs aimed at investigating the carnage with a view to identifying the culprits and making them face the law as deterrent to potential actors.

“NANTS wishes to reiterate the need for all members to be detached from all forms of the ongoing brigandage and destruction of properties of individuals of government structures, and remain alert and security conscious, guarding the markets and or closing the markets where necessary to avoid possible looting and arson,” Ukaoha said.
