Pastoralists’ union targets 31,000 livestock for vaccination in Kebbi

A Fulani pastoralist socio-cultural group, Billital Moroobe Pastoralists Association of Nigeria (BILMPAN), has launched a vaccination project for 31,000 livestock against animal killer diseases in Kebbi State.

The president of the association, Ali Mohammad Rimindako, made this known over the weekend at the launch of the distribution of palliatives to families of pastoralists in Birnin Kebbi, saying the project was to be implemented in six local government areas of the state.

He said the vaccination and deworming of cattle and small ruminant animals, was part of the palliative intended for the pastoralists, who had been affected by lean season, insecurity and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rimindako further stated that apart from vaccination and distribution of food items, BILMPAN would also distribute 500 sheep in the first phase of the project saying, women would be the major beneficiaries of the sheep distribution.
