EndSARS: Obiano accuses youths of neighbouring states for vandalising Anambra property

Governor of Anambra state chief Willie Obiano has accused youths from neighbouring states of causing trouble and vandalising property in the state.

The governor made accusation while addressing the Deputy Inspector General of Police DIG Celestine Okoye who visited the state on a inspection of police stations destroyed by irate youths.

On said, he has full intelligence that over 85 percent of the invaders came from neighbouring States, saying he was not going to tolerate that anymore.

“I also have an intelligent report about what they want to do on Monday.I want every Anambra Youth to come out and defend the state from hooligans from other states who want to take over the state.

I have given full instructions to security agencies, Anambra youths, president general and all Anambra stakeholders to defend the state.

Intelligence at our disposal shows that those that have been causing trouble in these past days in the state are from neighbouring states. We will not allow them to destroy our infrastructure, including police stations and other government facilities, some of which we built through self-help and community efforts” he said

Governor Obiano said that “enough is enough”, and warned those who still plan to cause trouble in the state to desist or face the consequences.​

The governor also in broadcast announced the easing down of 24-hour curfew of the EndSARS protest in the state to 6 pm to 6 am.

” The curfew in Anambra State has been eased and now commences from 6pm to 6am daily. This is to enable our people to gradually get back to their normal lives after the unrests recorded in some parts of the state these past days” he said .

He also directed residents in the state to join the state Ministry of Environment, ASWAMA and Anambra State Clear Drainage and Forest Preservation Agency (ACDFA), in cleaning their neighbourhoods including drainages across the state with immediate effect.
