Niger State House of Assembly’s standing committee on labour has insisted on its planned action to shut down the three power stations in the state following persistent power failure.
The committee had given Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) a 21-day ultimatum to improve power supply to the state.

At a meeting with critical stakeholders in the state to discuss a way forward and measures to take as the ultimatum given elapses, the chairman of the committee, Hon. Abdulmalik Madaki Bosso, said there would be no going back on the decision.
He said the people of the state deserve constant supply of electricity as every other citizen in Nigeria.
However, in separate remarks, some of the stakeholders expressed fear that any mass action in the state might be used by unscrupulous elements to cause mayhem in the state especially given the situation in the country.
They noted that they might not get the deserved attention of federal government now and, therefore, called for an extension of the ultimatum.
However, Bosso said he understood the concerns raised but assured them that measures were being put in place to actualise the struggle for better electricity supply.
The House had, in a resolution following a motion on a matter of urgent public importance on the floor of the house, given the ultimatum to the Disco.
