#EndSARS: 2 policemen killed, 2 stations razed in Oyo

Two police officers attached to Gbagi police station in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, were on Thursday burnt to death by protesting youths in Abayomi area of Iwo Road area of Ibadan.

The youths also set the vehicle conveying the policemen ablaze and razed two police stations in Akobo in Ibadan and Iseyin.

Daily Trust gathered that pandemonium erupted when a vehicle conveying three police officers killed a young okada rider around Ibadan-Ife expressway and fled the spot but the youths chased them to Iwo-road under bridge.

The source further said the protesters caught up with the police vehicle at the Iwo-road under bridge but the policemen fled.

Our correspondent gathered that following that development, the aggrieved youths protested to Testing Ground police station but on their way saw two of the fleeing police officers who had already changed to mufti, pounced on them and set them ablaze.

However, the arrival of Governor Seyi Makinde, doused the tension as he appealed passionately to the protesters.

Makinde pleaded with them not to attack policemen or public property and promised to meet the commissioner of police on the development.

In Iseyin area of the state, the only police station in the town was set ablaze and the customs area office was allegedly looted.

The spokesman of the police in the state, Olugbenga Fadeyim did not pick his calls when our correspondent tried to contact him.
