The Federal Government will spend N204.4 billion on projects and salaries for agencies and the Federal Ministry of Power in 2021.
According to the budget proposal of the ministry, out of the N204bn budgeted, N198.3bn was for capital expenditure (projects) while N6.1bn is for salaries and recurrent expenditure.
From the N173.8bn capital funding in the ministry, Mambilla hydropower project in Taraba State. Has N200m for counterpart funding out of the N5.3 trillion contract cost.
Consultancy services will gulp N75m; N75m on detailed engineering design, project management and supervision of the project.
N150m for advisory and consultancy services for it and the 40MW Kashimbilla hydropower evacuation project. There is N5bn for the transmission line project for the Kashimbilla dam.
The Minister of Power, Engr. Sale Mamman, recently said the drone and ground survey works spanning 3,500 square kilometres of land for the Mambilla project were ongoing.
Other capital projects include the 10MW Katsina Wind Farm (N59.6m for operation and maintenance), 710MW Zungeru hydropower (N290m for communities’ resettlement), 215MW LPFO/gas-fired Kaduna plant (N700m), 120MVA KUDENDA, Gurara substations (N220m), Distribution Expansion Programme (DEP) projects (N1.5bn), N150m counterpart funding for foreign-funded transmission projects.
