Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) is set to deal with paddy rice hoarders in order to bring down its price in the state.
The Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimingado, stated that the commission learnt that the price of rice was skyrocketing as a result of scarcity of the paddy in the market which was giving millers a headache.

“At a time when we made an investigation of the root cause of high price of the rice, we found out that the paddy was costly, but now that the price of the paddy has been reduced and the price of the rice is still getting higher everyday.
“We now understand that the paddy is being hoarded by unpatriotic citizens which resulted in its scarcity in the market. That is why we are intending to raid such stores to seize it and make sure the owners face the wrath of law.”
Rimingado said that the commission had the backing of law as sections 9 and 15 of the law that established the commission stated that they should not allow any citizen in the state to be cheated.
